| Born in Memphis TN, Vaneese Thomas is the amalgam of a myriad of musical influences. Blues and Jazz were standard fare in her household. Her father is R&B legend Rufus Thomas, her sister, singer Carla Thomas and her brother, keyboardist and arranger Marvell Thomas. This musical background solidly prepared her for the career upon which she embarked. Vaneese was raised at St. John Baptist Church in Memphis, TN and her Christian witness has been life-long. She has given of her talent as minister of music at several churches. She founded a professional singers' group in New York to minister at hospitals, nursing homes and prisons. Vaneese has succeeded in various musical ventures. She has recorded with artists such as Eric Clapton, Luther Vandross, her cousin, Kirk Whalum and Jonathan Butler. Vaneese has been a solo artist for Geffen Records and has performed on various television shows both in the U.S. and abroad. She can be heard daily on radio and television commercials and is a noted studio musician in New York. The creation of Peaceful Waters Music is a life-long dream come true. These attributes are a true reflection of one West Tennessee native - BERNITA. She began her musical career in Humboldt, TN at the age of 5 when she began playing the piano. Performing became real in her life when at the age of 10 she was a cast member of "Sunny Of Sunnybrook Farm". Since then, life has been one joyous adventure. Bernita has performed jazz, classical, gospel and musical theater. Her list of performances in musical theater includes: Hair, Godspell, Man Of LaMancha, Little Shop Of Horrors, River Songs and Jacques Brel. She also spent a summer entertaining at Opryland, USA. Bernita has sung with noted performers such as jazz keyboardist James Williams, R&B legend Rufus Thomas, Otis Clay and Shirley Brown. In addition to performing, she has been a Graded Choir Director at her church, Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, TN, and is presently Youth Choir Director at Centenary United Methodist Church, Memphis, TN. Though Bernita has performed many genres, she has never forgotten her first love - being a witness for Christ. In all her travels, it can be said that she is remembered not only for her talent but for her love of mankind. "In His Time" is a reflection of all that God has done and is doing in her life.
